SPRINGFIELD– State Senator Christopher Belt (D-Centreville) released the following statement after voting on a budget that supports the most vulnerable populations and helps people impacted by COVID-19:
“As we progress through this health and economic crisis, this budget is a stepping stone toward financial recovery. Providing additional resources for underserved communities that have been hit hardest by COVID-19 will hopefully help address the disparities that have always existed.
“The health and wellbeing of children, families and early childhood care providers in Illinois is of utmost importance. I’m pleased they will receive relief in this budget to sustain their quality of life.”
EAST ST. LOUIS – State Senator Christopher Belt (D-Centreville) announced Frank Holten State Recreation area will reopen as early as May 29 after Governor JB Pritzker made updates to phase three of his Restore Illinois Plan.
“Reopening Frank Holten State Recreation area will give many local residents more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors after being cooped up for more than two months,” Belt said. “Now, families will be able to gather while practicing social distancing to restore some quality of life.”

EAST ST. LOUIS – State Senator Christopher Belt announced that SNAP recipients can purchase food from grocery stores who choose to participate in the EBT Online program.
“Giving SNAP recipients the option to order online reduces the spread of COVID-19 and keeps families safe,” Belt (D-Centreville) said. “I applaud our state’s leaders who made it possible for our SNAP recipients to continue to feed their families in a more resourceful way. This was a vital response to the impact COVID-19 has had on low-incomes families.

EAST ST. LOUIS – State Senator Christopher Belt (D-Centreville) is pleased to learn the Illinois Department of Public Health has updated its guidance on allowing dental providers to resume routine oral and dental care beginning this week.
“Allowing dentists to carry on with routine oral and dental care shows that we are progressing,” Belt said. “Of course, dentist offices will still have to follow IDPH’s guidelines, but will be able to provide necessary oral hygiene care while minimizing risk to patients and healthcare personnel.”
